Injecting ILUMYA® with the Pre-filled Pen

Up to 30 days off fridge-free storage*

You have the option to store ILUMYA® at room temperature (≤25°C) for up to 30 days in the original carton.

DO NOT FREEZE, SHAKE OR STORE ABOVE 25°C

Record the transfer date in the field provided on the carton

Do not return ILUMYA® to the refrigerator once at room temperature

Use ILUMYA® within 30 days of transfer or by the expiry date, whichever occurs first

PREPARE

Before you begin

Take 1 ILUMYA® Pre-filled Pen (100 mg dose) out of the refrigerator and place it (still in the carton) on a clean, flat surface

Let it warm to room temperature for 30 minutes

Do not warm using a microwave, hot water, or direct sunlight

Do not use if:

  • The grey needle cap is off or damaged
  • The yellow plunger rod is visible in the window

WHEN READY TO INJECT

Remove the pre-filled pen from the carton, holding it by the middle

Do not remove the grey needle cap until you're ready to inject

Do not touch or cover the yellow needle guard

Check the expiry date on both the carton and the pre-filled pen

Discard if expired

Inspect icon

Look through the pre-filled pen's window. The liquid should be clear to slightly opalescent, colourless to slightly yellow.

Do not use if it looks cloudy, discoloured, or contains particles.

Wash your hands icon

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.

CHOOSING AND CLEANING THE INJECTION SITE

Where to inject diagram

Use a site with clear skin on the front of the thigh, abdomen (except 5 cm around the navel), or back of the upper arm

Do not inject into:

  • Skin that is tender, bruised, red, hard, or affected by psoriasis
  • Scars, stretch marks, or blood vessels

Clean the chosen site with an alcohol wipe and let it air dry

Do not blow on or touch the cleaned area

Step-by-step administration

Remove the grey needle cap by pulling it straight off - this may require some force

Do not touch the yellow needle guard

Do not put the grey cap back on

Do not twist or bend the needle guard

Hold the pre-filled pen with the window facing you

Stretch the skin at the injection site and place the pre-filled pen straight down, so the yellow needle guard is flat against the skin

Press and hold the pre-filled pen down on the skin

This will cause the yellow needle guard to retract into the pre-filled pen

You will hear a 1st "click", indicating the injection has started

Hold in place for 15 seconds after the first click and count slowly to 15

Then you will hear a 2nd "click", indicating the injection is almost done

Be sure the second click has been heard

Check the window - it should be fully yellow

Lift the pre-filled pen straight up from the skin when the injection is complete

Do not lift away from the skin before the injection is complete as this may cause an incomplete injection

If the needle guard does not slide into the pre-filled pen, immediately discard
